Launching Summer 2021, Mom Made Reservations is on the hill and happy to feed locals and visitors alike. We are the married duo of Tim Bena and Callie Squires, each bringing our culinary strengths to this endeavour.
Born and raised in Toronto, Canada (where over half the population was born outside the country), and to a Mom who didn’t really cook, Callie grew up eating all kinds of different food at friend’s houses and from restaurants. She ordered the alligator at age 8, tried jellyfish before scallops, remembers vividly the smell of Italian cheese from the local market, and has always been a fan of spicy noodles. She wants to share the vibrant colours, tastes, and smells of dishes from afar with this tiny mountain community.
Tim’s upbringing in Southwestern Ontario just outside of Detroit had a more midwestern slant to it, thanks to his American Mom (Snickers salad anyone?) In spite of, or perhaps because of, a childhood of simple stick-to-your-ribs suppers, he found himself drawn to working in fine dining and high-end catering kitchens. He brings many years of back-of-house experience and mad kitchen skillz to this project.
Operating Tuesday evenings out of the kitchen at The Sunflower Bakery, the plan is to serve up 3 course meals for pick-up only, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. Each meal is $20.00, and includes a starter, an entrée, and a dessert! What a deal! Pre-orders placed here by 11:59pm Mondays are preferred, but a limited quantity of walk-ups are available. The menu will change weekly, with vegan and gluten-free options always on offer.
